    Urine For A Good Night

I for one love a good Broadway transfer, and when I heard that Urinetown The Musical (one of my favorite satirical Broadway musicals) was getting its first West End run since the show premiered on Broadway back in 2001, I was over the moon. So, being the obsessive theatre goer that I am, I booked my Urinetown tickets to go two days after the shows official West End opening because I was truly excited.

Urinetown The Musical is a show that satirises many topics ranging from the legal system to corporate corruption (This may sound boring to some, but I can assure you that it's not). The story is narrated by Officer Lockstock and Little Sally and they help to retell the story of the twenty year sought that plagued the town they live in whilst parodying the format of a West End musical. They tell of the story of Bobby Strong: a boy who wants to overturn the government and amend the law that people must "pay to pee." Along the way, Bobby finds love and also helps to lead a group of rebels in a hilarious uprising.

Led by a stellar cast of performers, ranging from familiar faces to relatively new ones, this show is a serious ball of laughter from the start to the end, even though the story is actually quite a dark one. The original Broadway production won two Tony Awards for both Best Book and Best Musical, and this production really shows you why. Not only are both the story and the musical incredibly funny, but they are both so excellently written that you can appreciate the show even if you don't find all the jokes very funny. Needless to say, you'll walk out of the theatre singing at least one of the songs, be in the classic "Run, Freedom, Run!", or the heartbreaking "Tell Her I Love Her".

If you're looking for something funny along the lines of The Book Of Mormon and Forbidden Broadway, then Urinetown has to be your next stop at the theatre! And bring along your friends and family who appreciate something silly.
