Ten Signs That You Are In A Comedy, And What To Do Next

Have you ever had the feeling you might be playing an unsuspecting part in a show? Like Shakespeare says, ‘all the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players,’ but what kind of show is your life turning into? In this blog series, we are taking a look at all the signs that might indicate the genre of your life story. This instalment: ten signs that you are in a comedy… and what you need to do next!

Ten signs that you are in a comedy! Yikes:

    • You are always mistaken for a different person, and there is no possible way of correcting them!
    • You are very, very silly. This is funny.
    • You are extremely unique! (didn't see this coming, huh?)
    • You rely on your humour to mask your deepest insecurities. Somebody realises this, and you immediately fall deeply in love with them.
    • You are either extremely smart or shockingly stupid. Either way, you think that you are extremely smart. (read that one again!)
    • Misfortunate events are hilarious.
    • You always trip and fall over.
    • Everything is very ambiguous. Most of the time, you have no idea what is going on around you.
    • You don't believe in seriousness. Your usual response to adversity is, 'Does it really matter?'
    • Everything is an innuendo.

Got all ten? Well, I have some hard truths for you. You’re in a comedy. Everyone is laughing at you. You keep making the same mistakes over and over again. Now what?

    1. Don't worry too much; I mean, does it really matter?
    2. Be aware that within the next 190 minutes, you will likely be married.
    3. Be cautious because if you don't like somebody at the moment, it is highly probable that they will be who you marry.
    4. Try to make somebody else “the fool”. Make them trip and fall over or throw something at them.
    5. Watch out for wobbly-looking pavements, people in masks, people with rolled-up trousers and people with eccentric moustaches…
    6. Prepare yourself with a good range of jokes; this is your life now, be ready to use them at a moment’s notice.
    7. Hedges don't move by themselves. Wake up and smell the cliché camouflage.
    8. If it all goes wrong, console yourself with something sweet and the thought that it’ll be an old joke by the intermission.
    9. Have a glass of wine, and congratulate yourself in advance for a life full of unlimited success and lots of laughs.
    10. Pray that they don't make a sequel and mess your costume up again.

Watch this space for signs that you are in a different genre, like a tragedy, opera or pantomime!
