    RSC TRANSFERS PLAYS TO THE NOEL COWARD THEATRE

    The Royal Shakespeare Company are planning on a West End transfer for it's productions of Julias Ceasar and Much Ado About Nothing to the Noel Coward Theatre after their runs in Stratford.
     

    Iqbal Khan directs Much Ado About Nothing which will start Meera Syal.  He sets Shakespeare's comedy to an Indian setting with Myra Seeyal in the role of Beatrice.  Other cast are still to be announced.  The production first opens at hte Courtyard Theatre in July and marks Iqbal Khan's directorial debut for the RSC.

    Gregory Doran directs Julius Ceasar with design by Michael Vale, music by Akintayo Akinbode, lighting by Vince Herbert, sound by Jonathan Ruddick, and fight direction by Kev McCurdy.  The production first opens at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in May.  Doran’s "finds dark contemporary echoes in modern Africa." The cast includes Adjoa Andoh, Ray Fearon, Paterson Joseph, Jeffery Kissoon and Joseph Mydell.

    The dates for the RSC plays at the Noel Coward theatre have still to announced, but will be funded by BP Oil Company as part of the World Shakespeare Festival which starts on 12th April to November and forms part of the 12 week Londn 2012 festival the Cultural Olympiad.

    Vikki Heywood, RSC executive director said in a press statement, “I am delighted that the RSC is able to bring these two productions to the West End during the summer of 2012. It’s great to be working with Delfont Mackintosh Theatres once again and we look forward to a London summer full of Shakespeare."

    The RSC productions will follow the production of Noel Coward's Hay Fever running until 2nd June 2012 which replaces the current show Million Dollar Quartet closing on 14th January.
