Richard Bean’s Great Britain Transfers To The Theatre Royal Haymarket In September

It has been announced that Richard Bean's new play Great Britain will transfer to the West End's Theatre Royal Haymarket from Wednesday 10th September following its run at the National Theatre

Nicholas Hytner’s production will open at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, the same theatre where Bean’s hit play One Man, Two Guvnors recently concluded its record breaking West End run. Great Britain currently stars Billie Piper alongside Harriet Thorpe, Kellie Shirley, Robert Glenister and Oliver Chris. However, casting for the West End transfer is yet to be announced.

Richard Bean’s fast and furious new play is an anarchic and foul-mouthed satire about the press, the police and the political establishment. Paige Britain is the ambitious young news editor of The Free Press, a tabloid newspaper locked in a never-ending battle for more readers.

Great Britain is designed by Tim Hatley, with video design by 59 Productions, lighting by Neil Austin, music by Grant Olding and sound by Paul Arditti. The play opened without any preview performances on Monday (30th June) at the National's Lyttelton Theatre where it is booking until Saturday 23rd August 2014.

Tickets for the West End transfer of Great Britain go on sale this Friday (4th July). The show is booking at the Theatre Royal Haymarket until Saturday 10th January 2015.
