Have A F-ABBA-ulous Evening At Mamma Mia!

When you sit down to watch a show as successful as Mamma Mia, you know you're in for a treat- after all, the current run has been going for the past 18 years, and I can see it carrying on for many more!
Mamma Mia must definitely be the most famous Jukebox Musical of all time. Featuring the awesome music from Abba, and a gorgeous storyline, I'm yet to meet somebody who hasn't heard of this feel good show.
Now having never seen the musical before and being such a fan on the award winning movie (featuring Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan along many other star studded names), I didn't quite know what to expect, I mean, I love the music regardless but how would they compare? The reality is that they are totally different but each as loveable as the other.
This is undeniably a feel good show and I definitely left the theatre knowing I'd had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The choreography was energetic and incredibly entertaining throughout, with each number being different to the one before.
The entire cast were amazing! Jemma Revell and Amy Webb were fabulous as Ali and Lisa, and were a breath of fresh air every time they entered the stage! Jennifer Hepburn and Mazz Murray were easily the most entertaining characters throughout, with their fantastic comedic timing and superb acting and vocal abilities. For me, Murray's performance of 'Does Your Mother Know' was the highlight of the night!
Sanne Den Besten was brilliant as Sophie and her duet with Linzi Hateley as Donna was heart wrenching! Jonathon Bentley was excellent as Sky, although I would have liked for his vocal abilities to be showcased more, as we were left wanting more after his brief duet with Sophie. Filippo Coffano and Jake Small as Pepper and Eddie were absolutely hilarious throughout and I looked forward to the scene every time they stepped on stage.
I thought the idea of having the cast wait behind the set to help move it and take other pieces of set off was a very creative and original idea, however it was incredibly distracting seeing the odd limb pop out from behind a piece of scenery during a scene.
All in all I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and everyone involved should be incredibly chuffed with the well deserved success of the show. If you are yet to see Mamma Mia, I would definitely encourage you to go, and I promise you will have an utterly f-ABBA-ulous evening.
