A Magical Sneak Peak Into The New Harry Potter Play

Pictures have been released unveiling the cast and a scene of the brand new play, Harry Potter and The Cursed Child Parts 1 & 2.

The pictures have been met with mixed responses, with people being surprised at casting choices for a few of the characters, but it's obvious that people are incredibly excited for the opening of this production.

Jamie Parker leads the way as Harry Potter himself, with Poppy Miller starting alongside him as Ginny and Sam Clement as the main man, Albus Severus Potter. Paul Thornley will play Ron Weasley, but the real surprises came with the casting of Noma Dumezweni as Hermione Granger and subsequently Cherrelle Skeete as Rose Granger-Weasley.

J.K Rowling herself bit back at critics who seemed to be outraged at the news that the role of Hermione would be played by an Olivier Award winning black actress. Rowling stands by the casting decision, stating that she believes Noma is the best for the job.

A scene from the show has also been released, showing Rose Granger-Weasley surrounded by Hogwarts students and teachers, with hanging banners representing the four infamous Hogwarts houses.

The Palace Theatre have also applied for planning permission which will allow them to drape 4 coloured banners, which will also represent the 4 houses, on the front of the theatre- a type of decoration which has not been allowed before. Up to this application, advertising and decoration has been limited to display cases at street level and below the canopy, but theatre staff are applying for permission to enhance the external decoration of the theatre.

Harry Potter and The Cursed Child is set to be the theatrical event of the year, after selling over 175,000 tickets in the 24 hours after ticket booking opened. Theatre staff are recommending that audience members allow at least an hour before curtain up to get to their seats, as merchandise stands will be around the theatre and late comers will not be admitted at all.

The play comes in two separate parts, with both being available for viewing either on the same day or different days.

This show is definitely highly anticipated and I'm sure it'll be amazing to step into the wizarding world of Harry Potter!
